In today's digital world, screens have become a part of every child's daily life. From cartoons and learning videos to games and mobile phones, children are surrounded by technology. While screens can be useful when used wisely, nothing can replace the joy and benefits of active play.
For young children, play is not just fun—it is how they learn. Running, jumping, building blocks, drawing, singing, dancing, and pretending help children develop their physical, emotional, social, and thinking skills. Every moment of play helps shape a happy, healthy, and confident child.
On the other hand, spending too much time in front of screens may affect a child's attention span, sleep, eyesight, physical activity, and social interactions. Excessive screen time can also reduce opportunities for creativity and meaningful family bonding.
As parents and educators, our goal is not to eliminate technology but to use it wisely. Educational content, when watched for a limited time under adult guidance, can support learning. However, it should never replace active play, outdoor experiences, storytelling, conversations, and hands-on activities.
Here are a few simple ways to create a healthy balance:
- Encourage at least one to two hours of active play every day.
- Set age-appropriate limits for screen time. Keep mealtimes and bedtime screen-free.
- Read books together, play board games, or enjoy outdoor activities as a family.
- Be a role model by maintaining healthy screen habits yourself.
At our school, we believe that every child learns best through play, exploration, and joyful experiences. A balanced routine with more play and mindful screen use helps children grow into curious, creative, and confident learners.
Remember:
Childhood is a beautiful journey. The memories children cherish the most are not made on screens—they are created through laughter, play, discovery, and love.
